Our Vision
Multicultural and Mission-oriented church.
Praising and Praying church.
Cell and Compassionate church.
Our Mission
We exist to mobilise people to Christ, who will impact the community for the Kingdom of God.
Our History
Melbournepraise Church started as an outreach ministry in 1993 predominantly for international students who came studying in Melbourne. Later in 1995, Melbourne Praise Centre (MPC) is birthed from the ministry. We are using various building and location in these early years.
In 2001, MPC was officially affiliated with the Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania, and later merged with Gardiner Church of Christ in 2006.
MPC continued to grow in numbers even though the majority of its congregation went back to their respective home countries after finishing their studies. Some of the graduates who were able to stay in Melbourne continue to be a part of MPC’s community and supporting its ministries. As a result, MPC expanded its ministry to the families who live locally.
By the grace of God, MPC continue ministering children, youth, students, young professional, family and elderly people.
Decades of history has proven to Melbournepraise Church that God is good all the time, and the best is still yet to come.
Statement of Faith
We believe in:
• The Divine inspiration of Holy Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, as the Word of God, infallible, the complete revelation, and is the supreme authority for Christian faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 2:13)
• The One True God, eternally existing in the unity in the Triune Godhead of God. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
• The Son of God, Jesus Christ, true God and true man, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, crucified, died, buried, resurrected and ascended into Heaven. (Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6; Luke 1:26-35)
• The Holy Spirit is equal in power and glory to, co-existent, and of one substance with the Father and Son, and His working to the regeneration of men, their sanctification and preservation by His indwelling and empowering of all believers. (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Acts 1:8)
• The salvation of sinners by grace, through repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:11)
• The necessity of water baptism by immersion into the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit in accordance with the command of Christ and the practice of the apostles as recorded in the New Testament. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 19:1-6)
• The baptism of the Holy Spirit as a real experience at or subsequent to salvation, as experience in the New Testament & the manifestation of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit as listed in 1 Corinthians 12-14 and practiced in the early Church. (Acts 2:1-4; Acts 8:14-17)
• The importance for believers in remembering Jesus, through the Holy Communion. (1 Corinthians 11: 23-25; Matthew 26:26-28)
